This three-day course is delivered by the engineering team from Manitoba Hydro International Ltd. (MHI), Canada in conjunction with the Australian Power Quality and Reliability Centre (APQRC) of the University of Wollongong, Australia. It is intended for practicing engineers in power systems working in utilities, manufacturing, consulting, and academia who are interested in developing an in-depth understanding of the modern tools available for electromagnetic transient studies. Practical examples, based on the extensive experience of the staff at MHI will be specifically presented to provide a practical aspect to the course topics.

PSCAD Technical Workshop
Essentials of Electromagnetic Transient Simulation for Power System Studies
Date: 2-3 August 2018
Location: University of Wollonong, Innovation Campus, North Wollongong, Australia

This two-day course is delivered by the engineering team from Manitoba Hydro International Ltd. (MHI), in conjunction with the Australian Power Quality and Reliability Centre (APQRC) and the University of Wollongong. Researchers, academics and students will develop a greater knowledge on electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulation and its capabilities. The course will introduce the general theory of EMT and the basics of PSCADTM/EMTDCTM and will be followed by power systems application examples using library components. Particular emphasis will be placed on EMT studies related to solar and wind farm integration which will be of significant interest to the participants. The course will conclude with a question and answer session.

CIGRE Tutorial - C4 - "Application of syncrophasor solutions for the monitoring and control of power systems"

The Australian Panel of CIGRÉ C4 will be presenting a tutorial on "Application of synchrophasor solutions for the monitoring and control of power systems" to be hosted by the Australian Power Quality and Reliability Centre (APQRC) of University of Wollongong (UOW) on 13-14 August 2018. This two day tutorial is based on the activities of the CIGRÉ WG C4.34 group and is open to industry, academia and university students from across Australia and New Zealand. At the conclusion of the tutorial attendees will have an opportunity to present their own experience on the development and use of synchrophasors.
