January 2006
- A Reliability Research Seminar was held. This seminar was addressed by industry and
centre speakers and was attended by participants from all eastern states
February 2006
- Tim Browne commenced duties with the IEPQRC
March 2006
- Vic Gosbell attended CIGRE Joint Working Group and IEC WG8 meetings in Knoxville, USA
April 2006
- Danny Sutanto commenced his appointment as Professor of Power Engineering
June 2006
- Wickrama Keerthipala has commenced as Senior Lecturer focussing on Reliability
- Staff from the IEPQRC delivered an Advanced Power Quality Course for the EEA in Auckland NZ
- The NZ EEA held it's annual conference in Auckland NZ. Vic Gosbell delivered a paper by centre staff
- The end of June saw delivery of the centre's basic power quality course to a record number of attendees
July 2006
- Tim Browne represented the Centre at the Australian Panel meeting of the CIGRE C4 committee in Melbourne.
August 2006
- A successful PSCAD/EMTDC simulation workshop presented by staff of the Manitoba HVDC Centre was held.
The workshop attracted some 30 attendees.
- Technical Note #9 dealing with transients was published.
September 2006
- Tim Browne attended Paris Session of the CIGRE meeting. He presented a special report on contributions to transmission system
harmonics work/power quality indices.
- Ian Kennedy, a former electrical engineering graduate from the University of Wollongong, was awarded the NHP Young Power
Engineer of the year award.
October 2006
- ICHQP 2006 was held in Portugal. The conference was attended by Sarath Perera, Ahsan Latheef,
Sankika Tennakoon and Robert Barr. 4 papers from the centre were presented. Sarath Perera gave a short presentation at
the closing ceremony about ICHQP 2008 which will be held at the University of Wollongong.
- Sarath Perera was an invited speaker at the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka, Centenary Year International Seminar. The
seminar theme was 'Power Quality Benchmarking'
December 2006
- AUPEC 2006 was held in Melbourne. The centre was represented by 3 staff, Vic Gosbell, Sarath Perera and Sean Elphick
and 2 students, Ahsan Latheef and Prabodha Paranavithana. Ahsan, Probodha and Sean presented well received papers and Vic Gosbell
was one of 5 experts for a panel session on Australian energy resourcing, education and employment. In a great result for the Probodha and the IEPQRC Probodha took out third place
in the best student paper award
